Web-comics are good for you

A good friend of mine is starting a web-comic.  He’s got a few pieces prepared but is offering you a chance to get in on the ground floor and start following his comics blog from the very first cartoon.  So I’ll ask my loyal following of readers to check out:

You make me do this

I’m looking forward to more cartoons, and can already visualise t-shirts and merchandise featuring the cartoon protagonist with the identifiable hair. Hmmm, if that idea works out I’ll be looking for a free t-shirt!

Let me Google that for you

Just think of all those idiotic questions you get asked in the average day.  All those emails you respond to when really the sender should have just figured out the answer for themselves with a simple search.

Now there is a quick and easy way to get the message across, just send them a link from let me google that for you!

So say for example you were telling somebody about this blog, and they asked you what the address was, you could just send them a link to:http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=bardsworld

What a brilliantly simple, and hilarious idea!  You can even join the “Let Me Google That For You” Facebook group if you’re on Facebook and want to share the love!

Food for thought…

XKCD - A Webcomic - Steal this Comic

XKCD - A Webcomic - Steal this Comic

This cartoon made me laugh and also think nervously about my collection of MP3s and audio casettes that I’ve made from my CD and vinyl collection over the years. It also explains clearly why I buy MP3s DRM free from Amazon.com.

As long as the artist gets paid fairly and as long as I don’t sell it or give it away without paying the artist again, or use it in broadcast or performance without broadcast rights does it really matter how many personal copies I make?  I could play a single CD in my computer, in my car, and in my hi-fi by carrying it around with me, but I don’t have a CD player in my car, and might not want to run up and down stairs all day trading CDs between my computer and the hi-fi…but I only listen to one device at a time, so it could still be 1 usage!

This cartoon is lovingly pirated wholesale from the XKCD website, click the image above to go to the brilliant XKCD website itself!

Vince Cable, a future in comedy

Normally when I find myself laughing out loud at a statement made by Liberal Democrat MP it is because I disagree with the statement and not that it was actually funny.  Today though I’ve experienced that strange phenomenom and chortled aloud when I read the Lib Dem’s Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, reply when asked to comment on Gordon Brown’s leadership problems:

“I have no wish to kick a twitching corpse.” – as quoted in The Telegraph

Don’t mince your words there Vince, tell us what you really mean!  Good thing he isn’t a Labour MP or he’d have been relieved of his post by now.

Provocative menus

In preparation for our upcoming annual pilgrimage back to the green and damp land that is England we decided to make the most of the glorious sunshine and 92f (33c) temperatures by performing our out and about chores with the roof down in the car!

It was absolutely lovely purring in to ‘Old Town’ Alexandria in the early evening, feeling the sun seeping into our bones and the air like soft velvet wafting over us.  After a gentle stroll, and some last minute gift buying, we decided dinner was in order and decided to try a new restaurant specialising in crepes and coffee.  The food and drink was marvellous but their menu was a little saucy…

Ill have the suggestive wine please
