The BBC News website is reporting that Britannia is going to be removed from the reverse of the next issue of 50 pence coins. This has lead several MPs to ask the government to take action against the change.( Read the full story here )
What really worries me is the following quote:
Royal Mint said it would not comment on redesign plans, but there has been speculation that Britannia will be replaced with an image representing modern Britain.
So that will be a couple of chavs in a lowered Vauxhall Nova then?
When will we look beyond change for changes sake, and start focusing on a more balanced approach to building for the future by preserving what is important from the past.
