Here is some good news that really cheered me up.
As a young boy I remember my parents having an allotment before we bought “the field”. Experiencing growing flowers and vegtables as a child gives you a great sense of responsibility and pride when you work every weekend to grow your own row of carrots, or your first daffodils!
Now imagine the excitement of having an allotment on a National Trust estate. Driving past the historic stately home on your way to your own plot of land, where you’re contributing to the countryside and practising a vital role in the ancient art of estate management, you are working the land. I know I’m waxing a little romantic, but it would be like having your own “Secret Garden” and magic like that lasts a lifetime!
In case you just can’t wait for a National Trust allotment site near you, you could always try these alternatives:

- Allotments UK – a forum for allotment growers
- Warwick District Council’s allotments website
